Families in Africa and Twin Cities Move Forward Together:

Local nonprofit celebrates its unique sponsorship program partnering families in Twin Cities with families living in poverty in Kenya and Uganda.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN– On Saturday, March 25, Give Us Wings will host its 18th Annual Celebration: Families Moving Forward Together at McNamara Alumni Center in Minneapolis. Hundreds of guests will gather to celebrate the success of Give Us Wings, a St. Paul-based nonprofit, in helping families overcome poverty in Kenya and Uganda. The event will celebrate the two-year anniversary of the launch of their unique Family to Family Sponsorship Program and 18 years of “rebuilding villages and restoring hope in Kenya and Uganda.” This event will raise funds to sponsor more students and their families in Uganda, as well as general funds to support medical, educational and economic needs of families living in poverty in Kenya and Uganda.

Special guest Sarah Muzaki, Give Us Wings Africa Program Director, will travel from Uganda to deliver the keynote. She will share inspiring stories about the people who are part of the Family to Family Sponsorship Program, as well as plans to sponsor more families in the coming year. Executive Director, Therese Anderson, commented, “I am thrilled to offer the opportunity for our guests to hear Sarah describe the strength and hope of the people in Kenya and Uganda, as well as the incredible impact Give Us Wings is making on their lives. Sarah combines extensive knowledge, experience and professionalism with a deep compassion for the people with whom we work.”
