Standing in Solidarity

We are saddened and outraged by the heinous killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Manuel Ellis and countless other people of color who have lost their lives as a result of police brutality and institutional racism.

The convergence of events of the past few weeks has highlighted the horrendous inequality and injustice that are deeply embedded in our society and culture. The destructive effects of racism are evident in the health, education and economic disparities between communities of color and the white community.

The Give Us Wings Staff and Board of Directors strongly encourage all of our supporters to act with intention to dismantle systems of oppression and violence in America. Give Us Wings listens to and learns from the people we partner with in Uganda, and we are committed to do the same with African Americans and other people of color who experience racial injustice daily.

Our thoughts are with the Floyd family and the community. Please embrace the vital and challenging work needed to create a country where there truly is liberty and justice for all.

With gratitude and hope,

Therese Dosch Anderson, Executive Director

Anjie Flowers, Board Chair
